Sandy Kaufman was born in New York City in 1950. He attended the Rhode Island School of Design and graduated in 1972 with BFA in Illustration. Living in Brooklyn after graduation he worked as Communications and Creative Director for New York University and Columbia University. He was also a freelance book designer, photographer, and a painter with gallery shows.
After retirement from Columbia University in 2015, he took up residence in Guadalajara, Mexico where he currently resides, producing the paintings that you see represented on the website.
They are composed in acrylic and goauche and most often represent mythological narratives.
